From friday until sunday we have been baking and baking and baking. One friend came over to help as well. Egyptian biscuits, finnish biscuits, cake, pie, bread..you name it.
I remember once while travelling to Egypt on Ramadan at the last weekend before Eid. All streets were filled with the lovely scent of fresly baked biscuits and bread. It seems to be a tradition to bake during the weekend before Eid. I wonder if it is around all muslim world or just in Egypt?
How Ramadan went this fast? I feel that it just started and now it is already the last week. Before it started I was a little worried if I would be able to fast as I have been having some trouble with blood sugar levels but Alhamdulillah all has went well.

Good night sleep is underrated
I think all the parents in the world know the feeling when you are not able to sleep well. Your mind gets blurry and everything seems harder to achieve.
My 10 months old son hasn't been letting me sleep well for more than a week now. He is getting teeth so he has been waking up a lot during the nights. Luckily last night he only woke up few times. Even the painkillers haven't helped him to sleep.
The tiredness makes me feel insufficient to fill all the needs of my sons during the days. I am not able to play or go out with them as much as before. I feel most of the energy goes on satisfying their basic needs.
What keeps me going is the fact that this will not last forever. After few months it should already get easier. Insha Allah.

Ramadan
At the moment it is the month of Ramadan. A month when muslims around the world fast during the days. While fasting a muslim doesn't drink or eat, smoke or have any intimate intercourse before the break of the dawn
till sunset.
In the first day of Ramadan this year in Finland the time for fasting started about at 2.30 am and ended about at 10.30 pm. Meaning that there was about 4 hours time to eat and drink daily.
Now in the middle of Ramadan the time for fasting is little shorter as the days become shorter. Today fasting started at 3.15 am and will end at 9.45 pm.
Many times people have been asking me: "How can you stay without eating the whole day?" or "How come you don't faint if you don't eat or drink anything all day?"
What can you really answer? I respond that it is part of my religion and millions of people do it every year. And that I am not claiming it to be easy nor saying that it should be. After all there are millions of people in the world feeling hungry each and every day. Fasting just the month of Ramadan during the days must be easier than that. Don't you think?

Who am I?
I am 28 years old muslim woman living in a small northern country called Finland.
Finland? It is a beautiful country in North-Europe. Between Russia and Sweden. Has about 5,5 million people, 188 000 lakes and a lots of forest.
I wasn't always a muslim. I was born to a christian family as the majority of the people in Finland. But I never felt I truly belonged to that religion. I have always believed in God so that wasn't the problem. Just something was missing.
Then I met a man. A muslim man. We married and I got more interested in his religion so I started to read about it. The marriage didn't last but the interest in Islam kept on growing. And in a less than an year after we divorced I reverted to Islam. Alhamdulillah.
Years went by and I met an another man. An Egyptian man. The man I am now married to and with whom I have two small sons.
